Installation of Flange Mountings on CVCJ-1000 Vacuum Capacitor

Purpose:

To provide instructions for the installation of the flange mountings on the CVCJ-1000 vacuum capacitor.

To provide a recommendation for torque rating on the clamping screws of the FM1C and FM2 flange mountings. Proper clamping will ensure secure mount of the vacuum capacitor to the system and alleviate potential capacitor damage due to over tightening.

Procedure:

Variable End Flange Mounting

1. Place FM2 mounting flange (P/N 110954) onto variable end of capacitor with mounting holes furthest away from body of capacitor as shown in Figure 2. Make sure mounting flange is firmly seated against variable end seal.

Caution: Do not force flange mounting onto capacitor. Make sure clamping screw is fully loosened so the flange mounting slips freely over variable end seal of capacitor.

2. Hand tighten flange screw up to 6.0 to 6.5 in-lbs.

3. Check to make sure that flange mounting is secure on capacitor.


Fixed End Flange Mounting

4. 4. Place FM1C mounting flange (P/N 101958) onto fixed end of capacitor with mounting holes furthest away from body of capacitor as shown in Figure 3. Make sure mounting flange is firmly seated against fixed end seal.

Caution: Do not force flange mounting onto capacitor. Make sure both clamping screws are fully loosened so the flange mounting slips freely over fixed end seal of capacitor.

5. Tighten clamping screw (A) on flange mounting until resistance is felt (Do not exceed 2.0 in-lbs torque). Repeat process for clamping screw (B) (See Figure 3).

6. Apply 3.5 to 4.0 in-lbs of torque to first screw (A), then apply 3.5 to 4.0 in-lbs of torque to second screw (B) (See Figure 3).

7. Check to make sure that flange mounting is secure on the capacitor.
